More new looks for the 2010-11 season

The 2010-11 season is almost upon us. To help you get ready, here are some more of the new looks you'll be seeing on the ice this season.

The much-anticipated Buffalo Sabres' throwback-inspired alternate jersey and their new slugless road jersey.

The New York Islanders' home jersey -- they'll be partying in Uniondale like it's 1977.

Possibly the worst-kept secret in the NHL last season -- the Eastern Conference champion Philadelphia Flyers have made their Winter Classic jerseys from last season their new full-time road jerseys.

The Canucks have Edge-ified their very first uniform as part of their 40th anniversary celebration. Note the lack of name on the back of the jersey -- apparently, the Canucks have received special permission from the NHL to go nameless on their throwback jerseys, which they will wear five times this season.

When the Heritage Classic is played at Calgary's McMahon Stadium on February 20, 2011, here are what the Flames and Montreal Canadiens will be wearing. The Flames' uniform is a replica of what the Calgary Tigers wore in the 1920s, with the Flames' logo in place of the Tigers' logo. The Canadiens' uniform will be identical to their regular road uniform, except the fact that there will be no gap between the number and its trim.

Speaking of the Flames, the anniversary throwback jersey they wore for five games last season comes back this season as its full-time alternate home jersey -- this time, it's in the Reebok Edge cut.

There will be other jerseys making their debuts this season. The Anaheim Ducks will wear an alternate jerseys featuring the team's "D" logo on the front and an adaptation of their original logo on the shoulders. The Blue Jackets will unveil a new alternate home jersey, featuring a cannon as its crest. The Los Angeles Kings, like the Canucks, will be wearing replicas of their original jerseys a few times this season. The New York Rangers as part of its 85th anniversary celebration will wear throwback-inspired jerseys with "NEW YORK" diagonally on the front in a font similar to the one they originally wore in the 1920s. Images have been leaked, but to the best of my knowledge, they have not officially been unveiled yet.

Which provides me a good opportunity to reiterate something that I have mentioned several times since debuting the website: I do this website not as an NHL insider, but as a common fan. I have no inside knowledge of what new uniforms will look like. I find out as you do. Furthermore, if I'm given confidential information, it will not be displayed on the site until officially unveiled by the team.

And as always, the new season's page will go up on the season's opening day -- which this year is Thursday, October 7.
