1951-52
• The All-Star Game took on a different format, with All-Stars split into two teams instead of one team of All-Stars taking on the defending Stanley Cup champions.
• On the last night of the season, a measly crowd of 3,254 fans at Chicago Stadium watched Bill Mosienko of the Black Hawks score three goals in a span of 21 seconds -- a record for the fastest hat trick in NHL history. The Black Hawks would need all of his goals as they beat the New York Rangers, 7-6. The Black Hawks and Rangers both failed to make the playoffs.
• The Detroit Red Wings swept the Montreal Canadiens to win the Stanley Cup.
