• Tommy Gorman retired as general manager of the Montreal Canadiens. He's replaced by Frank Selke, who would build the greatest dynasty in NHL history in the late 1950s.
• Montreal Canadiens goalie Bill Durnan wins his record-breaking fourth consecutive Vezina Trophy.
• The New York Rangers become the first team in NHL history to televise its home games.
• The Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Montreal Canadiens in six games to win the Stanley Cup.
