1975-76
• In a blockbuster trade, the Boston Bruins trade Phil Esposito and Carol Vadnais to the New York Rangers for Brad Park and Jean Ratelle. The trade benefitted the Bruins more, as Park and Ratelle each had several productive years with the Bruins, while Esposito and Vadnais were both past their primes.
• In their second and final season in Kansas City, the Scouts redefined futility, winning only one out of their final 44 games (1-35-8). They would move to Denver after the season.
• The Montreal Canadiens set a record for wins (58) and points (127) and would sweep the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Philadelphia Flyers in the Final.
