• The Ottawa Senators rejoin the NHL after a one-year hiatus. The Philadelphia Quakers had no such luck -- they did not.
• The Detroit Falcons merged with the Chicago Shamrocks of the AHL and became the Detroit Red Wings.
• A new rule required a captain or alternate captain to be on the ice at all times.
• The New York Rangers won the Stanley Cup, beating the Toronto Maple Leafs, three games to one.
