Welcome to the new season

For the second time this calendar year, we get to witness the dawn of a new season. Following a short season and a shorter off-season, the 2013-14 season gets underway today.

You'll notice one slight change to the images, and you have a rule change to thank for that. Players with less than 25 games of NHL experience going into this season will be required to wear a visor. Given this new rule, along with the fact that the vast majority of players wear visors anyways, all helmets depicted on the site from this season forward will have a visor attached to it.

As of the writing of this blog post, I'm still awaiting the design of the Calgary Flames' new alternate uniforms, as well as the designs of the special uniforms which will be worn in the outdoor games (except for the Winter Classic in Ann Arbor, Michigan -- the jerseys for that game have already been unveiled). As always, I'll find out what they look like when you do, and I'll post them at that time.
