September 18, 20092010 Winter Classic and more previewsA few more new looks for the 2009-10 season have been unveiled, and I would like to share them with you now. First are the uniforms the Bruins and Flyers will wear in the 2010 Winter Classic at Fenway Park. The Bruins did what the Blackhawks did last season and use a combination of several elements of past uniforms in creating their Winter Classic look. They used the crest from their primary jerseys from the 1948-49 season (minus the "24" and "49" signifying their 25th NHL season), the design of their 1958-59 gold jersey and the brown color that they used from 1924 to 1934. The Flyers, on the other hand, will wear black nameplates on white jerseys -- something they have never previously done. As was unveiled before the start of last season, the Canadiens will wear two throwback jerseys as they continue their centennial celebration. The jersey on the top is based on what they wore in the 1910-11 season, and the jersey on the bottom is based on the ones they wore in their inaugural season of 1909-10 (eight years before the establishment of the NHL). Another team wearing a throwback jersey is the Calgary Flames, in celebration of their 30th season in Calgary. Based on what was unveiled earlier this month, it appears their throwback jersey will not be in the Reebok Edge style. Earlier this week, the Predators unveiled their new third jersey, featuring a unique (albeit almost unnoticeable from a distance) checkerboard pattern on their sleeve and tail stripes. Hey Nashville, the Toronto Maple Leafs called. They want their jersey back. |
