April 2, 2015Yeah, the Avs are not getting a complete makeover next season, but another team willYeah, most of you figured out in short order that my blog post from yesterday was a cruel April Fools joke. There's not a snowball's chance in hell the Avs would ever take the ice looking like that! While the Avs will not be changing their primary uniforms, Chris at Icethetics says they will be changing their alternate uniform. According to the site, Anaheim, the NY Islanders and Washington will also be getting new alternates, while the Turd Burger will join the Buffaslug in the Sabres' scrap heap. Icethetics says the only team to be introducing new primary home and away uniforms for 2015-16 is the Arizona Coyotes. While it's unlikely that they'll go this route, given the popular response of the team's Kachina uniform when they wore them last month, don't be surprised to see this on the ice next season: It could happen -- after all, the trend in the NHL seems to be what's old is new again. The Oilers, the Islanders and the Flyers in recent years have returned to the uniforms they had worn previously. Take the logos, names and numbers off the jerseys and you can add the Canucks to the list. And the Penguins' alternate uniforms are spot-on with the uniforms they wore when they won back-to-back Stanley Cups in the early 1990s. In fact, response to those uniforms have been so positive, that I would not be at all surprised if the Penguins return to them full-time: |
