January 7, 2013Game on!Yes, I know it's been months since I updated my blog. The reason is simple -- while the NHL and its players union were squabbling about how to divide up billions and billions of dollars, us fans were left without any NHL hockey to watch (although some of us are fortunate enough to live near good quality minor league and college hockey). Like most of you, the lockout has left a very sour taste in my mouth. After all, this is the third time in Gary Bettman's commissionership that there has been a lengthy lockout. We can't continue to go through this every handful of years. It took a long time for the NHL to get back into favor with the fans; and I'm afraid someday, the damage will be irreparable. That said, I'm thrilled that this latest lockout is over, and we can get back to following the NHL the way it's supposed to be followed -- on the ice, and not at the bargaining table. As always, the current season's uniforms will be posted on opening day. Without a pre-season (I assume there will be no pre-season), I won't know about any subtle changes until after the start of the season, so there could be some corrections as the first week or two progresses. |
