lost conference quarterfinals
  The Penguins wore a patch to commemorate the opening of their long-awaited new arena, the CONSOL Energy Center. They also wore a patch on the upper right chest of their special throwback-inspired jerseys as they hosted the Washington Capitals in the 2011 Winter Classic at Heinz Field on New Year's Day. The Penguins lost, 3-1. Afterwards, the Penguins ripped the patch off those jerseys and wore then twice in their new arena. |
