  The Red Wings wore vintage uniforms from their inaugural season (when they were known as the Detroit Cougars) as they faced the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL Winter Classic January 1, 2009, at historic Wrigley Field. They wore their regular pants and red helmets with the special jerseys and socks. The Red Wings won the game, 6-4. They wore the vintage uniforms again, without the patch, in their last regular season home game, a 4-2 loss to the Blackhawks. |
