A major milestone

Sometimes I'm absolutely amazed at how fast time flies.

It seems like yesterday when I started doodling on my Windows 95 desktop computer as I watched Ray Bourque try to win that elusive Stanley Cup as a member of the Colorado Avalanche.

And now, as I watch the team Ray played nearly his entire career with vie for its first Stanley Cup since 1972, I come to realize that it has now been exactly one decade since I launched this little website on Yahoo! Geocities that I originally called NHL Uniforms of the Modern Era.

I must say -- over the last ten years, this site has come a long way. For starters, check out some of the images as they appeared on the original site back in 2001:

I was trying to find a screengrab or two of the original site, but I wasn't able to find one, and all the original images are long gone.

Those of you who have visited the site regularly over the past decade know how this site has evolved. At first, it focused on uniforms back to the 1967-68 season when expansion took hold.

Then for a very brief period of time, I had a sister site called NHL Uniforms of the Original Six, which as the name implies, focused on the uniforms worn in the 25 seasons in which six teams made up the NHL. That site merged with the main site and I added the early uniforms to complete the entire NHL uniform history.

And as the site evolved, so did the site's logo.

So today, the site that's now known as The Hockey Uniform Database celebrates its tenth anniversary. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all your support during the past decade.

I'm looking forward to continuing to maintain this website for years to come. And, I promise -- a mobile version will be coming, so stay tuned!
