1937-38

• The Howie Morenz Memorial Game was played on November 2, pitting a team of NHL All-Stars against the Montreal Canadiens. The game raised over $11,000 for a fund for the Morenz family. The All-Stars won the game, 6-5.

• The NHL takes control of the New York Americans when Bill Dwyer fails to come up with the capital required to retain his team.

• The Chicago Black Hawks defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs, three games to one, to win the Stanley Cup.
