1947-48
• The NHL All-Star Game would become an annual occurrance. Three benefit/memorial games featuring NHL stars were played in the 1930s. Until 1969, and with the exception of 1951 and 1952, the All-Star Game featured a team of All-Stars playing against the defending Stanley Cup champions.
• The Toronto Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup, sweeping the Detroit Red Wings in the Final.
