The Canadiens began their centennial celebration by unveiling several vintage jerseys they would wear over the next pair of seasons. For 2008-09, they wore replicas of jerseys worn in (top to bottom in the left margin) 1945-46, 1915-16 and 1912-13. Each jersey was to be worn twice during the season, but for some unknown reason, the 1912-13 jersey was only worn once -- on February 1st, a 3-1 loss to the Boston Bruins. They also used their regular road (white) jersey for a pair of home games in their centennial celebration, passing them off as 1970-71 jerseys (although there are some significant differences between the two). They will wear jerseys from 1909-10 and 1910-11 in the 2009-10 season. They also introduced two centennial patches -- the one on the left above was worn on their regular jerseys; the one on the right was worn on their vintage jerseys. Also, since the Canadiens hosted the 2009 All-Star Game, they wore the All-Star Game patch on their regular jerseys (in Français, mind you). |
