Montreal Wanderers

1917-18
The Wanderers were members of three different hockey leagues before joining the newly-formed National Hockey League in 1917 with the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators and Toronto Arenas. Six games into that inaugural season, the Wanderers' arena burned to the ground, destroying all of the team's equipment in the process. Already $30,000 in debt, the team folded, and the players were dispersed among the three remaining teams.
