Colorado Avalanche

1995-96
When the team moved to Denver from Quebec City, it changed its colors to burgundy, steel blue, black and silver. The crest features the letter "A" in the shape of a mountain, with a puck sliding down in a similar manner as an avalanche.

1996-97
The crest increases in size and tilts slightly counterclockwise. Also, the font on the players' names changes slightly. Otherwise, the uniform remains the same.

1997-99
The numbers decrease in size by about 3/4 of an inch and the outlines become thicker.

1999-2001
The burgundy becomes a couple shades darker. Look at photos of the team in their dark jerseys from the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons. The difference is that noticeable.

2001-07
Fresh off their second Stanley Cup title, the Avalanche introduce a third jersey, with the word "Colorado" slanted across the front of the jersey.

2007-09
With the NHL moving to the Reebok Edge uniform system, the Avalanche changed the striping on their jerseys, and the names shrink by 3/4 of an inch. Otherwise, the uniform remains the same.

2009-15
The Avalanche introduce a blue alternate jersey, featuring a straight nameplate. The word AVALANCHE appears in the rear collar.

2015-17
The Avalanche retire the yeti foot shoulder patch and replace it with a re-colored "C" from the Colorado state flag -- which was also prominently displayed on the logo of the state's former NHL franchise, the Colorado Rockies. The Avs also introduced a new alternate uniform that introduces navy blue into the team's color scheme. The alternate's crest also harkens back to the days of the Colorado Rockies.

2017-18
The Avalanche restore the mountain trim on the sleeves and the bottoms of the jerseys when Reebok Edge gives way to Adidas Adizero. They also make slight changes to their letter and number fonts.

2018-20
The navy blue alternate uniform returns after a one-season absence -- this time, Adidas-ified.

2021
The Avs replace their black pants and black home helmet with steel blue models. Also, their alternate home pants get stripes.

2021-present
When the Avs worked to all but eliminate black from their color palette, they apparently forgot to change the names and numbers on the back of their white jerseys. They rectified that as of the 2021-22 season.
